eircom Group today announced the adoption of a management proposal for a
wide ranging set of commercial reforms that will fundamentally enhance
access to eircom’s national infrastructure for all telecoms operators in
Ireland.
A range of measures will deliver process improvements for existing
regulated wholesale products such as LLU, as well as for future next
generation access services. The proposed reforms will cover regulated
access products currently sold by eircom, and eircom will develop its
next generation access products with a view to ensuring that all
operators have access via Wholesale to eircom’s technology organisation
and product development processes to deliver quality products and
services to the end customer.
The Group will also put in place improved governance, measureable KPIs,
internal codes of practice and other measures that will provide greater
transparency for customers of eircom’s wholesale operations. eircom
Wholesale will remain within eircom Group but will be rebranded to
signal its enhanced role. This will be led by Chris Hutchings, our
recently appointed MD for eircom Wholesale.
Commenting on the announcement, Paul Donovan, CEO eircom Group, said
“These commercial reforms reinforce the importance of eircom’s wholesale
business and the value that we place on our wholesale customers. We
want to deliver – and be seen to deliver – wholesale services in a way
that ensures a level playing field for companies who want to access
Ireland’s largest and most extensive fixed telecoms network. These
changes will provide more efficient processes for operators who already
access our network and maximise innovation for next generation products
such as fibre.
“We believe the proposed changes outline a clear and unambiguous set of
measures that will help grow our wholesale business and further
encourage competition within the telecommunications industry in Ireland.
This will improve the quality and choice of products available to other
operators and ensures that the industry as a whole continues to
facilitate economic growth in Ireland.”
