Monday 29th March marked the official launch of Bitstream Managed Backhaul (Bitstream MB), eircom Wholesale’s first offering over eircom’s Next Generation Network (NGN).

Bitstream MB offers Service Providers cost reductions of up to 60% from existing levels. In addition, Bitstream MB's enhanced product capability enables Providers to dimension the contention levels and line speed their customers experience on the eircom network.

Commenting on the launch John McKeon, Director of Wholesale, said “I am delighted to launch this next generation product which offers exciting new functionality to our customers. In addition to receiving improved product quality at lower cost, Service Providers can further differentiate their broadband propositions and are no longer tied to eircom retail’s product portfolio.”

Bitstream MB will initially be available at 25 sites, expanding to a target of 70 sites by October 2010 providing coverage to over three quarter of a million lines, with a target of providing coverage to one million lines by year end.
